It\'s becoming increasingly rare to find wine at just 11% alcohol, and who would have thought we\'d track one down from Arroyo Seco, California? It has an intriguing nose of lemongrass, sherbet lemons and a hint of spring flowers. In the mouth, there is the lightness you would expect for the percentage alcohol, with good crispness and a lean texture, uncomplicated by oak or any other artifice. Good length of flavour, with lime pith and green herbs on the finish. The Beeswax Vineyard is so-named because it apparently confers this distinctive character on the wines that come from it. We found this hard to discern, but since this was the first ever Californian Picpoul that we had tried, we didn\'t have any others with which to compare it.
