Italeri German Military Motorcycle and Sidecar Scale: 1:9 Length: 267mm Decals for four versions included! In 1938, based on a specific request from the German army, BMW and Zundapp received the brief to start a co-joint development project to guarantee the highest number of common components, optimising the maintenance activities and spare parts logistics. The prototypes had been released in 1940 and the production started at the beginning of 1941. The side-car wheel was driven with an axle connected to the rear wheel of the motorcycle. This was fitted with a locking differential and selectable gear ratios to optimize the on-road / off-road performance. The twin-cylinder engine had a displacement of 750cc and was capable of delivering 26 HP. The BMW R75 was widely used on nearly all important operating theatres, and in all environmental conditions from North Africa to Russia. It repeatedly proved its reliability and sturdiness.
