LB&SCR, Terrier, 0-6-0T, 48 ‘Leadenhall’, Era 2 In 1870 the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) was struggling to cope with the increasing London traffic. In 1871 drawings were approved and 6 locomotives were ordered. These locomotives were nicknamed 'Teriiers' due to their distinctive 'barking' exhaust note. Following on from their success and popularity, a further 44 locomotives were built. Later in 1876, the 48 Leadenhall was created and served in various locations until 1901 when the locomotive was relegated to the LB&SCR Duplicate List.
