Beta-carotene is a natural carotenoid, which is mostly abundant in red, orange, yellow and dark green vegetables and fruits. Beta-carotene is called a provitamin A because it is converted into vitamin A if vitamin A storage levels are low in the body. Vitamin A is good for the skin as it contributes to maintenance of normal skin and mucous membranes. Beta-carotene can be used for tanning to obtain beautiful tanned skin.
