Clematis ‘Montana Elizabeth’ - Clematis plant Awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit, this Old man’s beard is a well-known popular variety of Clematis. It is a vigorous climber that enjoys sprawling its glossy green foliage throughout hedges and other mature shrubs, it also expands well over sunny walls and fences. It grows in height to around 10m (30’) and spreads to a superb 3m (10’). ‘Elizabeth’, like all Montana varieties spills well up climbing frames, trellis and structures. This Clematis has sweet-smelling blooms that appear in the Springtime and disappear early in Summer. It has a vigorous habit, growing prettily in containers perfect for patios. Clematis ‘Montana Elizabeth’ is particularly attractive, its buds contain four baby pink petals and have contrasting lemon-yellow stamens. Its foliage is emerald green in colour but has unusual purple-tinged green leaflets.
