Calathea Orbifolia is a stunning houseplant. The large leaves have a green and silver stripe effect which are very eye catching. They are also known as prayer plants as in the night thee leaves fold in together like two hands praying. As it is a tropical plant it thrives in a humid environment so plant it on top of pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it helps increase the humidity ? misting the foliage will also help. Keep in a warm room above 16C (60F) and avoid placing near cold draughts and radiators. Keep out of direct sunlight and in a light but shaded spot. Water with tepid rainwater or distilled water and allow the plant pot to drain well after. In the winter reduce the among of watering but do not allow the compost to dry out entirely.
