From late spring to late summer, Oenothera tetragona bears 2-inch, saucer-shaped flowers in golden yellow which contrast beautifully with its red tinged buds and stems. The erect flower stems are held above glossy green, narrow leaves. This evening primrose loves freely draining soil where it will happily seed about if you let it. Grow it with other Mediterranean dry-loving species. Evening primroses are low maintenance plants which blend effortlessly into naturalistic schemes and cope well with dry hot sites such as wall side borders or coastal gardens. Height: 60-80cm (24-31).
