The Magnolia \'Merrill\' received an RHS Garden Merit Award. In spring the velvety buds which fill the bare stems open to reveal a flurry of white petals tainted with pink tones. Followed by dense green foliage which changes to buttery yellow in autumn. This majestic hardy Magnolia is more resilient to frost damage than many other varieties. With age, Magnolia x loebneri \'Merrill\' becomes a large shrub or small tree that makes an elegant addition to a woodland area, or an exquisite solitary plant. Height and spread: 8m (26?).
