Taxus Bacatta A traditional favourite for formal garden hedging! Taxus Bacatta is a classic when it comes to formal garden hedging and garden topiary. This variety is popular and a widely praised English Yew, due to its resilience and ability to handle all kinds of poor weather conditions! This excellent evergreen shrub is medium-sized and bushy, with narrow, leathery, very deep green leaves. Male plants produce yellow cones in spring and female plants produce red cup-shaped non-edible autumn fruits. This strong and sturdy plant often grows up to a height of 2000cm which makes it perfect for screen hedging and privacy too. You could grow the Taxus Bacatta for privacy and hedging, or as a deep green backdrop to summer beds and borders. It really will make colourful flowers pop! Therefore, it's also no surprise that this versatile shrub holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit and continues to be a gardener's favourite.
