The Butterwort is definitely a unique carnivorous plant that has a delicate and pretty aesthetic. The pretty pink flowers are covered in a sticky adhesive that traps the flies. In the summer months an upright stalk will produce beautiful pink flowers, and each year a new flower stalk will grow. Keep in a bright and well-lit position in a window or conservatory and ensure that it is in a frost-free position with a temperature of 15C (60F) to 32C (90F). it will need slightly acidic soil and to be kept moist. Regularly water in a water tray to help keep the moisture in and avoid watering from above. A great way of achieving the acidic soil is to mis some ericaceous compost and moss. As it is a carnivorous plant it does not need feeding as it can sort itself out! After flowering cut back the stems to allow it to become dormant for the winter.
