Iris germanica, also known as Bearded Iris, are some of the earliest flowering perennials which provide sumptuous flowers in hot summer borders. Their blue-green, sword-like foliage also provides interest and good contrast with softer mounds of other perennials, long after the flowers have faded. Iris germanica ‘Miles Ahead’ has typically showy blooms with generously ruffled petals. The 16 x 11cm blooms are described as ‘giant’ sized.  The standards are ivory white complemented by white falls with a broad border of mottled blue. Height: 90cm (35in).
