Neuropsychoanalysis within Neuro-Rehabilitation
This course has been developed by a \'jobbing\' clinical neuropsychologist, applying core ideas from neuropsychoanalysis within clinical practice in the support of survivors of brain injury and their significant others. This course reviews the history of psychoanalytical and psychodynamic ideas within neuro-rehabilitation, an proceeds to explore defining characteristics of applied clinical neuropsychoanalysis: dissolving of traditional conceptual boundaries between cognition, affect and relationship; intersubjectivity, and a dynamic model of the mind post-injury. The latter is explored with reference to post-injury difficulties in executive functioning, memory, communication, mentalizing and seeking versus rage affective systems. All ideas are developed with reference to theory, empirical findings and detailed presentation of clinical case studies.
