The first-ever episode of the popular ITV comedy series opens with a new batch of British holiday-makers arriving at the Solana, a Spanish seaside resort, including Lancashires reigning pub quiz champion, the Oracle, and his doting mum – who he refers to as his PA. Meanwhile, Mick and Janice Garvey have to contend with their two children – who do not appreciate the hot weather - and her foul-mouthed, chain-smoking mother.
