1950s Western drama starring Kirk Douglas as wandering cowboy Dempsey Rae. Hollywood icon Kirk Douglas stars as roving cowboy Dempsey Rae, who arrives looking for work at the extensive spread of hard-bitten ranch owner Reed Bowman (Jeanne Crain). Attracted as much by the hard-to-get boss as the money, he signs up and starts work on building a fence as ordered. But it soon dawns on Rae that he’s been hired to deprive smaller ranchers of land they need to graze their herds – so he promptly downs tools and joins the other side… However, there’s big trouble in store from Bowman’s new foreman, who enjoys wrapping his enemies in barbed wire!
