Jimmy McGovern’s latest film-length TV drama stars Alison Steadman and Sheridan Smith and your hearts will go out to the characters they play. The story centres around a daughter caring for her mother, a stroke victim. Alison Steadman stars as Mary, an active, independent woman thrives on looking after her grandchildren. Her daughter Jenny (Sheridan Smith) is a single mother who is unable to work to pay the family’s bills, simply because of her own mother’s childcare support. Their lives are thrown into turmoil when Mary suffers a stroke which triggers dementia. She requires full-time care and the hospital and local authorities aren’t willing to provide the essential support Jenny now needs to care for both her helpless mother and young children, and hold down a job to cover her household expenses.   Release Date  1st April 2019
