This 1968 crime thriller, directed by Don Siegel, stars Clint Eastwood as a deputy sheriff from Arizona sent to big bad New York City to pick up a suspect... and decides to do things like they do out West! Coogan is sent to New York City to extradite a prisoner back home to Arizona. Hamstrung by big city police bureaucracy and baffled by his suspect’s hippie friends, the cop decides to do things like they do out West… His efforts at subverting the bureaucratic process result in fugitive Jimmy Ringerman escaping, much to the chagrin of Lieutenant McElroy. Despite this, Coogan remains in New York and attempts to make amends for his earlier mishap even though this means taking matters into his own hands.
