Haunting World War Two drama based on the novel by John Boyne. Starring David Thewlis. When 9-year-old Bruno returns home from school one day, he discovers that his belongings are being packed in crates. His father has been promoted and the family must move from their comfortable home in Berlin to a new house in a desolate area where there is nothing to do and no one to play with. A tall fence running alongside stretches as far as the eye can see and cuts him off from the strange people he can see in the distance. While exploring his new environment, he meets another boy, Shmuel, who wears a uniform of striped pyjamas. Their meeting results in a friendship that has devastating consequences.
