Luke hires Simon Kane and his son, David. The stories, contributed by a variety of screenwriters, focused around the various stagecoach passengers and the diverse people Luke and Simon met en route, as well as their battles with holdup men, Native Americans, the encroaching railroad, damsels in distress, and even weather. The drama opens with Simon happening upon his estranged wife, who abandoned him several years before.
