Adam Bird is a husband and father who discovers that he has a mysterious heart disease. With no possibility for an organ transplant, he is now scheduled to be replaced by a cloned upgrade an improved version of himself that will be supplied to his estranged wife as part of the Premium 3 government insurance plan** (see below). Spiraling out of control, Adam starts living on borrowed time, seeking to find a solution before his replica will be sent to raise his kids and replace his existence forever.   ** Adam is a father of three at a time when most people have accepted that bringing children into existence isn\'t the kindest or smartest thing to do. Recognizing the need for young workers to support an aging populace, the government has established a novel insurance program called Premium 3, for parents of three children or more: If you or your spouse die during your child-rearing years, a clone will take your place. One with all the memories and knowledge required to raise those kids. And to sweeten the deal for your grieving partner, he or she has the option to do a little \"tailoring\" of the replacement, making the new you better looking, more attentive, or smarter.
