TV mini-series based on Frank Herbert\'s classic sci-fi novel. Starring William Hurt. Duke Leto leads the House of Atreides as it takes over the command of the desert planet Arrakis and the harvesting of its uniquely powerful spice, an element essential to intergalactic space travel. But the rule of Atreides is disrupted by Baron Harkonnen (Ian McNeice), a former commander of Arrakis, who has vowed to do everything in his power to regain control. Harkonnen brings chaos to the Atreides regime, banishing Jessica (Saskia Reeves) and Paul (Alec Newman), Leto\'s wife and son, to the mercy of the desert, and re-establishing control of the spice flow. After Paul and Jessica are rescued by a group of desert nomads known as the Fremen, Paul gradually gains power and becomes the Fremen leader, using his new-found status to lead a rebellion against Harkonnen.
