Written by Evelyn Abbott and published by G. P. Putnam\'s Sons in 1906, Pericles and the Golden Age of Athens tells the history of Greece from 570 to 429 BCE. This edition is in very good condition, with red cloth board and red leather spine and corners. There is a golden Collegiate stamp to the front cover from St. John\'s College, Johannesburg, South Africa. The red leather is showing signs of wear, especially to the spine. The fore edge is marbles and has a stain (pictured). The front paste down has a College prize plate dated 1908 and a bookseller mark. The inside is mainly clean and clear, with some signs of foxing to the first few title pages and last few end papers. From the title page till page 1, Chapter 1, there is a small water stain to the bottom pages.
