Magenta Minutes
Nonsense Verses by Leighton Sandys Wason (1867-1950), Church of England cleric and author. In 1892 he founded and edited The Spirit Lamp: An Oxford Magazine Without News. The author was Parish Priest of Cury and Gunwalloe in the Diocese of Truro 1905-1919, and Magenta Minutes inspired John Betjeman to call him the greatest living writer of nonsense verse. First Edition, 1813. Used hardback in good condition. Some wear to corners of boards and head and tail of spine. Fading of boards and spine. Gilt title on front board still bright and clear; no gilt to title on spine. Edges of text block darkened and spotted. Book plate on front paste down (Joyce Swann Ex-libris). Discrete previous owner\'s signature and date to ffe. Some browning to prelims and rear endpapers etc. with slight spotting on both paste downs. Otherwise clean throughout with sound binding.
