Strand.Some wear to corners and edges of boards and the spine but overall good condition, given age.William Robertson (19 September 1721 – 11 June 1793) was a Scottish historian, minister in the Church of Scotland, and Principal of the University of Edinburgh. \"The thirty years during which [he] presided over the University perhaps represent the highest point in its history.\" He made significant contributions to the writing of Scottish history and the history of Spain and Spanish America. He was Chaplain of Stirling Castle and one of the King\'s Chaplains in Scotland. He was a significant figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and also of the moderates in the Church of Scotland. In 1783 he was a founding member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Dugald Stewart FRSE FRS (22 November 1753 – 11 June 1828) was a Scottish philosopher and mathematician. Today regarded as one of the most important figures of the later Scottish Enlightenment, he was renowned as a populariser of the work of Francis Hutcheson and Adam Smith. His lectures at the University of Edinburgh were widely disseminated by his many influential students. In 1783 he was a joint founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. In most contemporary documents he is referred to as Prof Dougal Stewart.
