Great for cuttings and borders, our Platycodon Grandiflora seeds are perfect for adding a variety of colours to your garden. A robust perennial, its deep blue blooms are also known as ‘balloon flower’, because of their large swollen buds. Indoor sowing: Sow thinly in trays of seed compost, cover lightly with fine compost. Firm gently, keep moist and warm. Growing on, acclimatise plants to outside conditions from May (avoid frosts). Then plant out 25cm (10in) apart in flowering position. Outdoor sowing: Sow thinly in a prepared seed bed in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Cover lightly with fine soil, firm gently and keep moist. Transplant 25cm (10in) apart in flowering position from September to October. Keep moist and weed free. TIP: Plants may require support in exposed locations
