Thanks to the USB 3.0 connectivity, the Interconnect EX from Akasa makes for an extremely fast card reader capable of reading from and writing to five different common card formats. It also includes a Smart Card Reader slot for bank and other security cards that utilise the ISO7816 standard. Furthermore, the Interconnect EX doesn\'t just offer users the option of connecting up to four USB 3.0 devices, it also allows smartphones and tablets to enjoy the benefits of fast data transfer using both USB ports. The Interconnect EX-Multipanel with its brushed aluminium front panel is installed in a free 5.25\" bay. Internally, it is connected using a free USB 3.0 header and a SATA port to the motherboard. Both USB ports are similarly connected using an internal header. A cable with an external USB 3.0 connector allows users to connect with the card reader, as such it may need to be guided outside of the case. Additionally, a 4-pin Molex connector connects it with the PSU - this is how the device receives its power.
