The Roman wall clock saw the light of day for the first time when Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller\'s proposal for a new town hall was adopted. Arne Jacobsen, who liked to design everything from buildings to furniture and fixtures, created the clock for both hanging on the prominent town hall tower and for the interior decoration of the town hall. On the basis of the building\'s unique architecture, the town hall with the Roman clock in front was protected in March 1994 and subsequently in January 2006 it was included in Kulturkanonen under the area of architecture. The Roman wall clock thus constitutes both a functional design object and a piece of Danish design history and tradition. The well-known watch is a timeless watch that with its ease is easy to let go from generation to generation.
