The expert sculptors at Berkeley Chess have intricately crafted these fantastic Second Edition Isle Of Lewis Chessmen; a refined and detailed reinterpretation of the famous original pieces. The origins of the legendary Lewis Chessmen are not known exactly, but historians believe that they were originally made in Norway. Lying for centuries in a stone chest, the pieces were eventually unearthed in 1831 on the coast of the Isle Of Lewis in Scotland. The original pieces are on display in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and The British Museum in London. The enigmatic beauty of the original sculptures has been developed and adapted into this fabulous set, which is coloured with a rich russet brown and cream stone resin composite.
