Lord of the rings chess pieces in amazing detail and heavy crushed stone composite. Very limited edition pieces. Crafted in crushed stone resin. Hand painted. Naturally weighted. Superb quality. The Regency Chess Company has managed to acquire a very limited number of these sets as \'new old stock\'. These were originally a Studio Anne Carlton product that became discontinued when the official licensing ran out. A very small number of the original sets were discovered in a warehouse and we have them ready for sale. The Lord of the Rings figurative chessmen are based on the specific characters from The Fellowship of the Ring feature film. Each side represents itself with individual characters. The Good white characters include Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Gimli, Frodo and Samwise. The Evil black characters include Saruman, Ringwraiths, Lurtz and a variety of Orcs. The set is constructed from crushed stone and meticulously painted by hand. With a king\'s base diameter of 1.5 inches these pieces could be combined with an 18-19 inch board. However, due to their height we suggest a 21 inch board to retain good proportions.
