Designed and hand inlaid in Italy, this dark grey burl chess board is a work of art. Finished in a very high gloss lacquer, the wood grain and knotting of the burl has an amazing depth. The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with a thin veneer of ebony that sections of the playing area from the edge. The underside of the board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felting pads to protect surfaces underneath. This deep monochrome colour of this board looks very contemporary and would best suit either brass, Ebony or Red Sandalwood pieces with a king height of approximately 3 inches.
