The edge to edge design and construction has a very contemporary look. The board is constructed from solid blocks of European Wenge and Maple woods which are joined together to create the checkerboard. Additionally the boards appears to float slightly above the table surface thanks to deep felt pads on its base. The Windsor Solid Rosewood chessmen really compliment the rich warm reds and browns of the chess board. They are hand turned, polished and are very nicely weighted for their size. In all, a remarkable looking set that is a joy to play on.
