In the top corner of each page, a field mouse climbs a poppy with his tail wrapped around the stem whilst it appears to be swaying in the wind. The opposite bottom corner depicts a variety of poppies, some having already bloomed and some note quite yet in flower,  fine black outlining adds extra detail to the watercolour design and differentiating from the smaller image.
