Icon Cushion (Turmeric)
This cushion is part of our gorgeous new collection from London based duo Cary Briggs and Andrew Mason of Stoff Studios. Hand printed using reactive dyes onto a heavy textured, hand-dyed linen, the designs are developed from gestural mark making and mono printing techniques. They use traditional methods to create refined, intimate collections of textiles that bring soft blocks of colour and texture to a room – they are beautiful little abstract artworks in themselves! Inspired by the ancient stones at Avebury and the paintings of Paul Nash, this print has a gestural, painterly quality reminiscent of the human body. “We wanted to create a print that was a development from our first collection (which was directly inspired by life drawing and the female form). After working through our collection of rocks and fossils, we took a trip out to Avebury to see the ancient standing stones which had been drawn and photographed by one of our favourite artists Paul Nash. We spent 2 days at the site, drawing, photographing and taking rubbings of the stones. This print is the result of repeatedly drawing the shapes and outlines of these weather beaten rocks which we distilled down to an abstract grid of shapes.” Stoff Studios Colour: Natural unbleached linen ( not white) with Turmeric yellow/brown motif Special delivery – please allow approx 7 working days for dispatch
