When adjusted properly, these perform in any condition and require 40% less turning revolutions for adjustment, resulting in more security with less effort and lower torque. The acronym SLS stands for Super Lock System and they are widely used in various modern leki poles. They are very easy to tell apart from old expanders as there is a slot in the middle and they are blue, green or black (old ones were bright orange). They wear out very slowly, but if you feel that your pole is no longer locking as securely as it used to, it might be time to get some new ones. The SLS expanders come in 3 colour coded sizes related to the diameter of the section they need to grip against. Sometimes called Leki Split Dowel, as there is a split in the middle which accepts a \"wingnut\" or rocket travelling up and down the screw. They are the strongest locking system ever used in poles with holding weight of over 140kg and require very little force to lock securely.
