This stunning Neptune Mug is a take on a pattern that has been made since the 1870s that was designed by Katie Armstrong, Daughter of Robert Williams Armstrong, one of the founders of the Pottery, and Anne Langley Nairn. Katherine Cecilia Armstrong was born in St Pancras London in 1850 the eldest of their four children. It is believed she was in her early twenties when she designed this set. It is said that she did get help from her mother to design the Neptune tea-set but that the Periwinkle feet were entirely her own work. The Neptune tea-set however was not produced commercially until the late 1880s during the ownership of the Belleek Pottery Works Company (1884-1919) In the years since then the Neptune set has become one of the most iconic of Belleek tea sets, which is why these stunning Neptune Mugs have been created. With their iconic pink hand painted rims, the designers have extended the cup into a mug, making the beverage more enjoyable.
