The National Park is a place of contrasts, colour and wilderness with its mountains, bogs, lakes, hand built stone walls and thatched cottages. You are expected to give way to the sheep which are usually sitting in the middle of the road! The areas main town, Clifden has several venues for traditional Irish music and still contains a vast part of the Connacht Irish-Speaking Gaeltacht.
