He had formally embraced the Muslim faith, changed his name to Yusuf Islam, been awarded the Sun Peace Award by the United Nations and had reunited with producer Paul Samwell-Smith and guitarist/collaborator Alun Davies to embark on one last record before turning his back on the music industry, seemingly for good. Sonically, the album was a return to the acoustic sound of Yusufs earlier work. Intended, in part, as his swan song to the recording industry. 2006s An Other Cup saw Yusuf return to music and with a re-found verve for his exceptional catalogue of work.
