Free Hand was Gentle Giants seventh album, originally released in July 1975. This album was the most commercially successful of the bands career, reaching the top 40 albums in Billboard Magazine. The title of the album and first track were so named as the band had just changed record labels and management and felt unshackled by prior contractual obligations. Award-winning producer and musician Steven Wilson has added his delicate touch in remixing Free Hand - a fitting tribute to the compositional skills and expertise of five dedicated musicians. A limited edition 2LP set pressed on 180g vinyl. Disc 1 features transfers from the original tapes and disc 2 the Steven Wilson 2020 remixes. Steven Wilsons remixed Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround version of Free Hand is accompanied by custom animated visuals for each track on BluRay. In addition, the original flat mix, original 1975 quad mix and an instrumental mix are included in this 2-disc Digipack CD + Blu Ray set.
