Nalkein Lapiren FOR URINARY CALCULOSIS WHAT IS THE URINARY CALCULOSIS? Urinary calculosis is a \"social\" disease: it affects both sexes throughout life. Urinary calculi (urinary lithiasis or kidney stones) are crystals that have lost their solubility and are deposited as small pebbles, subsequently excreted in the urine. These crystals can deposit in the urinary tract and cause pain, obstruction to the passage of urine and, in severe cases, a urinary tract infection. In Italy, urolithiasis occupies an important place in daily clinical practice. On average, the risk of forming a calculation during a person's life varies from 5 to 15%. HOW DO YOU MANIFEST? Urinary calculosis may have multiple aspects in relation mainly to its site in the urinary tract; the clinical picture and any signs of related complications are therefore different (infection, urinary stasis, renal failure) and may occur individually or in association with each other.
