Luminox Recon Quartz Black Dial Rubber Strap Men\'s Watch XL.8831.KM The NAV SPC (Navigation Specialist), the latest addition to the RECON series, is specifially engineered to assist the Navigation Specialist memeber of a patrol team. As a result, this Luminox Recon NAV SPC 8830 Series Men\'s Watch (XL.8832.MI) features an easy to read walking tachymeter (in KM) and a movement with a GMT function that allows the wearer to set a second time zone. In addition to this, the watch strap is designed to help with map reading and navigation, as it is fitted with three common map scales, an inch/cm measurement and comparison chart, and a removable compass. All watches in the RECON series also come with a tactical MOLLE/PALS (a standard carry system used in the military that means (“MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment”/“Pouch Attachment Ladder System”) compatible sunglass case. The Case: The NAV SPC (Navigation Specialist) is the latest addition to the Recon series, it has been specifically engineered to assist a Navigation Specialist of a patrol team. The 46mm case is crafted from a black carbon compound material, which despite weighing only 72 grams is more durable and strong than other traditional alloys. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel, which consist of a 60-minute and 24-hour time display. Luminox’s signature double security oversized knurled crown is present within the crown guards at 3 o’clock. On top of the dial there is scratch-resistant, coated and non-reflective sapphire crystal glass. On the flip side there is a stainless steel screw down case back. The Dial: The black dial is brought to life by green and white accents. Bold arabic hour markers allow for easy reading of the dial, as well as being one of the most eye-catching features as from 9 to 12 o’clock they are presented in a bold green colour. These subtle dashes of green are also present through the 24 hour GMT hand which allows for display of a second time zone. Otherwise, the hour and minute hands are presented in a striking white and have been filled with tritium to allow for excellent darkness illumination. The seconds hand consists a red tipped arrow.  A date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker. A tachymeter display occupies the outer edge of the bezel, unlike traditional tachymeters this one measures walking time in KM. The dial is fitted with a total of 14 tritium gaseous light tubes, which can be expected to glow steadily for around 25 years before needing replacement. The Strap: The strap is made from polyurethane strap and it features a removable compass and inch/cm measurements pressed into the strap. It fastens easily using a matted pin buckle that has the Luminox logo engraved into it. The Functions: Powered by Swiss made Ronda 515 caliber movement. This provides the watch with a 45 month battery life. It also offers a hacking feature, meaning that the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out to time setting position. This can also be used as a battery saving mechanism, as when pulled out it will reduce battery consumption by 70 . It has a water resistance of 200 metres making it suitable for diving.
