Seiko 5 Sports Street Fighter \'Ryu\' Automatic White Dial White Nylon Strap Mens Watch SRPF19K1 The Case: The 42.5mm case of this Seiko 5 Sports Street Fighter Ryu SRPF19K1 is crafted from stainless steel, the crown is located at the 4 o’clock marker and it is protected by a crown guard. The watch’s bezel is inspired by the classic ‘do-gi’ Judo outfit that Ryu wears. The scratch marks on the bezel are there to represent tough training process that Ryu underwent to become a ‘true fighter’. The edge of the bezel has been knurled to allow for days rotation. The case also features a crown at the 4 o’clock position. Moreover, on the back of the case is an inscribing of the controller command for Ryu’s signature move, the ‘Hadoken’. Also the Street Fighter logo and the serial number of the model are present on the caseback. The Dial: The textured white dial is one of many features that gives this watch its distinctive appeal. Bold white hour markers form a track around the edge of the dial. The 9 o’clock marker has been replaced by a simplified version of the iconic ‘furinkazan’, which is a phrase found on the characters glove that translates to “wind, forest, fire, and mountain”. A day date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker. A silver hour hand set occupies the centre of the dial. The ever-present Seiko 5 Sports logo is situated beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The Strap: The front side of the strap is made from canvas and comes in the same textured pattern, as is seen on the dial. It is reminiscent of Ryu’s uniform. The reverse side of the strap is made from calf leather to provide additional comfort. The same characters seen at the 9 o’clock position of the dial are also present on the tip of the strap on the reverse side. It fastens easily using a standard buckle. The Functions: The Seiko 5 Sports range boast Seiko’s new upgraded 4R36 automatic. It is the same movement that is found in more expensive Seiko models, such as the ‘Turtle’ that belongs to the Prospex range. The movement consists of 24 jewels and it operates at 21,600 beats per hour. This ensures the watch has 40 hours of power reserve. It includes Seiko Diashock, which essentially protects the inner mechanisms from any damage the watch may sustain if it were to be dropped or knocked. It is expected to either gain or loose between +45 / -35 seconds per day. Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.
