Echoing the stories based on personal, moral and social development, each timepiece represents one of the seven key different Ninja characters through the dial and bezel colour combination. All feature a stylish co-ordinating Nato nylon strap. Today, with a new design, this much-loved timepiece is re-born. ‘’5’’ represents the original five key attributes of every Seiko 5 watch: Automatic movement, Day-date display at the three o’clock position, Water Resistance, Recessed crown at the four o’clock position and Durable case and bracelet – features still present today. The Case: The 40mm brown case of this Seiko 5 Sports Gaara SRPF71K1 model is made from brushed  stainless steel, which offers the wearer unparalleled levels of anti-corrosiveness, as well as ensuring greater shine longevity. Hardlex glass has also been used in order to provide further protection. There is also a non-screw down crown present besides the 4 o’clock marker, which allows the watch to sit comfortably upon the wearer’s wrist. The bi-coloured uni-directional bezel is reminiscence of the character’s outfit. The case back is transparent, which allows the wearer to view the inner mechanisms of the timepiece. It is inscribed with the serial number of the model as it is limited to just 6,500 pieces. The Dial: The pressed golden pattern of the dial is inspired by sand, as the character’s unique ability is that he is able to manipulate sand.  He carries a supply of sand wherever he goes in a gourd, which itself is made from sand. Pointed hour markers are located at the edge of the dial, the kanji character for \"love\" at the one o\'clock position brings Gaara and the One-Tailed sealed inside him to life. Each marker consists of a lumibrite material which allows for nighttime visibility. A day date window replaces the 3 o’clock marker, A silver hand set occupies the centre of the dial. The hour hand comes in a syringe-style, while the minute  comes in an arrow-style. Both have been filled with lumbrite material. The Seiko 5 logo sits beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The Strap: The nylon strap imitates the colour of Naruto’s costume, with the grey strap featuring a red stripe through the middle of. It makes for an eye-catching design, which draws directly from the characters aesthetics. It fastens easily using a standard buckle. The Functions: The Seiko 5 Sports range boast Seiko’s new upgraded 4R36 automatic. It is the same movement that is found in more expensive Seiko models, such as the ‘Turtle’ that belongs to the Prospex range. The movement consists of 24 jewels and it operates at 21,600 beats per hour. This ensures the watch has 40 hours of power reserve. It includes Seiko Diashock, which essentially protects the inner mechanisms from any damage the watch may sustain if it were to be dropped or knocked. It is expected to either gain or loose between +45 / -35 seconds per day. Finally, this watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.
