The Case: Seiko Prospex Mens SRPH15K1 ‘Tortoise’ Automatic Stainless Steel Mens takes its name from its cushion shaped case, which resembles the shell like profile of a Tortoise. The case is made from stainless steel and it measures 42.4mm in diameter. On top of the case there is a striking green unidirectional rotating bezel, which displays both a 60-minute scale and the four cardinal directions (N, E, S and W). The bezel walls are coined, which allows for greater grip and therefore more easily rotated. On the side of the case there is a recessed screw-down crown at 4 o’clock. This is a feature which is commonly found on dive watches, as it allows the watch to sit comfortably on the wrist without the crown digging in. Sapphire crystal glass provides the watch with superlative levels of protection against scratches and shattering.  The Dial: The design of the bold sunray green dial is uncomplicated and atypical of a classic dive watch. The simplistic layout of the dial ensures maximum legibility, around the edge of the dial there are highly visible baton-style indices which have been filled with a Seiko’s lumibrite material which allows the dial to be read in the dark. A date-display window is nestled in between the 4 and 5 o’clock marker on the dial. Surrounding the hour markers is a 60-minute scale, which is located on the dial’s chapter ring. Extending out from the centre of the dial are the syringe (minute) and arrow (hour) hands, which have a silver frame and are also filled with lumibrite. The second hand is presented in a gold tone, which is complementary to the green tones of the dial.  The Bracelet: The bracelet is made from stainless steel and it comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster bracelet was first introduced by Rolex in 1948 and it has since been closely associated with sports watches, due to their utilitarian character that ensures that the bracelet remains secured to the wrist during sporting activities. The three fold clasp, with secure lock, also helps to ensure that the watch remains securely fastened to the wearer’s wrist. The Functions: Seiko’s 4R35 automatic movement which has a power reserve of 41-hours. It consists of 24 jewels and it has an accuracy of +45/-35 seconds per day. It also offers a hand winding feature, as well as a hacking feature. It is water resistant up to 50 metres, which permits the wearer to wear the watch when snorkelling.
