The Case: Seiko Prospex Solar SNE569P1 has a compact case with a diameter of just 38.5mm. It is made from stainless steel that has a brushed finish, which provides the case with its lustre, while ensuring the longevity of the timepiece. A blue 60-minute display bezel sits on top of the case, it features a subtle circularly brushed design. The walls of the bezel have a textured design which allows for easy rotation of the unidirectional bezel. A screw-down crown is present besides the 3 o’clock mark, it protected by a crown guard. Sapphire crystal glass has been used to protect the dial, because it offers optimum resistance against scratches and damage. The Dial: The black dial has a subtle sunburst design, it is decorated with bold luminous hour markers that allow for easy readability, while the 3 o’clock marker has been replaced with a date display. The differentiating style, size and dimensions of the handset also allows for greater readability, as does the red trimming around the minute and seconds hand, as it stands out against the black dial. A white 60-minute track runs around the outer edge of the dial, which allows for more accurate reading of the time. The Seiko Prospex logo is present neatly beneath the 12 o’clock marker. The Bracelet: The bracelet is made from stainless steel and comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster bracelet was was first introduced by Rolex in 1948 and it has since enjoyed a close association with an array of dive watches, this is due to their utilitarian character that ensures functionality. The bracelet fastens using a three fold clasp with a secure lock, to ensure it remains upon the wearer’s wrist. The limited edition SLA049J1 has the added bonus of having a dial/bezel matching blue silicone strap with a textured train track pattern. The Functions: Seiko’s exclusive V147 quartz solar powered calibre movement powers this timepiece.
