Seiko Prospex 1986 Recreation Tuna Limited Edition Quartz Black Dial Black Strap Mens Watch S23635J1 The Case: Seiko Prospex Tuna S23635J1 1986 Recreation Quartz Mens Watch is limited to just 1,200 pieces globally and it commemorates the 35th anniversary release of Seiko’s first 1,000m water resistant saturation diver\'s watch. This model encapsulates the true essence of a tool-orientated watch, as it is defined by its bold over sized dimensions and functionality. The S23635J1 is made from corrosion resistant titanium and ceramic. The large circular case measures 49mm in diameter and its resemblance to a tuna can is why this watch is affectionally referred to as the ‘Tuna’ by Seiko fans. The case is comprised of a stainless steel bezel, with easy-to-grip edges. The knurled edges allow the wearer to utilise the uni-directional rotating bezel easily. A 60-minute scale is displayed on the bezel too, while a luminescent pip is present at the 12 o’clock mark on it. Another characteristic of the watch that is distinctive to the ‘Tuna’ is the protective zirconia ceramic shroud that is stylised in navy. On the edge of the case there is a screw down crown besides the 4 o’clock marker, which has been positioned there to allow for maximum comfort when on the wrist. Two push buttons are also placed besides the 8 o’clock and 10 o’clock markers. The Dial: The ‘Tuna’ features a textured navy blue dial that consists an uncomplicated layout to allow for maximum readability. The watch appeals to the conventional, understated aesthetics of the tool through the adoption of bold white baton-style indices and a white baton-style handset. Both of which have been filled with a luminescent material, which allows the dial to be read in the dark. Additionally a subtle date window replaces the 4 o’clock marker. The Strap: The navy accordion-style strap is made from silicone and it is a style that was first invented by Seiko in 1975, ensuring that their watches remained securely fastened on the wearer’s wrist whatever the ambient pressure. It also offered greater levels of comfort through its ease of use by expanding and contracting when worn diving. It fastens securely through the use of a standard silver buckle. The Features: This Seiko 1986 Recreation ‘Tuna’ is powered by Seiko’s quartz calibre 7C46 movement, this calibre movement is considered a ‘superior movement’. It has a battery life of around 5 years and it has an accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month. It has a water resistance of 1000 metres which means that it can be worn for saturating diving.
