Just as Seiko Astron took watchmaking to the next level with solar GPS technology, Kojima Productions\' skill and design created games which opened up a new genre of experiences. The dial and buttons on this collaboration model showcase the “Ludens” character motif from Kojima Productions. “From SAPIENS To LUDENS,” is engraved on the bezel - meaning evolution from a Human Being to becoming a sophisticated Gamer. Seiko Astron: the world’s first GPS solar watch which never needs a battery change – powered by light, automatically adjusted to your time zone through the latest GPS technology. The Case: This Seiko Astron GPS Solar Satellite SSH097J1 measures 41mm diameter and it is 12.2mm in depth, which makes it the slimmest GPS solar watch on the market. It is made from titanium, which is notorious for its lightweight, but highly durable properties. The case has been treated to a super-hard coating which ensures the longevity of the timepiece. Additionally, dual-curved sapphire crystals has been used which has also been treated with a super clear coating, that offers both optimum legibility and resistance from shattering and scratches. A unique black bezel sits on top of the case, it displays the world cities which reaffirms the fact that this watch is world powered. It is made from a ceramic material, which is favoured by luxury brands such as Rolex, due to the fact that they offer greater longevity. On the side of the case there is a screw down crown that is positioned next to the 3 o’clock marker, as well as two golden push buttons that are present either side of the crown. The Dial: The sleek black dial employs a textured design that is brought to life by the dashes of gold. The interwoven pattern reflects the texture of Ludens’ carbon face mask motif, whilst the golden accents on the dial echo the metal parts of his suit. The hollowed out silver dauphine style handset imitate the imitate the character\'s flag mast’s design. The Kojima logo is also present at the 9 o\'clock position, which serves as a reminder of the watch’s muse. The chronograph style dial consists of three sub dials that display a 24-hour reading, a function indicator and the home time of the wearer. The handset has been filled with Seiko’s lumibrite material, which allows the dial to be read in the dark. The applied hour markers have also been filled with a luminescent material too. The Seiko logo is positioned neatly beneath the 12 o’clock marker, whilst a date window displays is presented between the 4 and 5 o’clock hour markers. The Bracelet: The bracelet is made from a black PVD titanium with super hard coating, ensuring the longevity of the timepiece. It comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster bracelet was was first introduced by Rolex in 1948 and it has since been closely associated with sports watches, due to their utilitarian character that ensures that the bracelet remains secured to the wrist during sporting activities. The three fold clasp, with secure lock, also helps to ensure that the watch remains securely fastened to the wearer’s wrist. The Function: This timepiece is powered by Seiko’s GPS solar movement that communicates with the GPS network and adjusts to your timezone anywhere around the world. The calibre 5X movement takes just three seconds to adjust between 39 timezones in the world, which makes it the fastest out of any movement on the market. It provides an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. To adjust from home time to the local timezone press the two push buttons at 4 and 8 o’clock.
