To enhance the speed and quality of the GPS connection, every component in the GPS module has been re-engineered. The operation of the 5X calibre is also faster and more intuitive than ever. For example, only three seconds are needed to advance 14 hours from Tokyo to New York time, thanks to the system that moves hour, minute, and seconds hand independently. New functions also allow automatic adjustment to Daylight Saving Time and give the wearer the ability to switch the main dial instantly from home to local time and vice versa. This particular design, with an eye catching blue bezel, is one of the 140th anniversary collection timepieces marking key periods in the brand’s history. The Case: This Seiko Astron GPS Solar Satellite SSH093J1 measures 41mm diameter and it is 12.2mm in depth, which makes it the slimmest GPS solar watch on the market. It is made from stainless steel, that has been treated to a super-hard coating which ensures the longevity of the timepiece. Additionally, sapphire crystals has been used which has also been treated with a super clear coating, that offers both optimum legibility and resistance from shattering and scratches. A distinctive glossy blue bezel sits on top of the case. It is made from a ceramic material, which is material that is favoured by luxury brands such as Rolex, due to the fact that they offer greater longevity. On the side of the case there is a screw down crown that is positioned next to the 3 o’clock marker, as well as two push buttons that are present either side of the crown. The Dial: The chronograph style dial is presented on a subdued silvery white dial, that is completed by eye-catching touches of blue. The dial consists of three sub dials that display a 24-hour reading, a function indicator and the home time of the wearer. In the centre of the dial there is a striking dauphine-style handset that is enclosed by royal blue frame, which complements the blue bezel. Moreover, the handset has been filled with Seiko’s lumibrite material, which allows the dial to be read in the dark. The applied hour markers have also been filled with a luminescent material too. The Seiko logo hovers over the dial and is positioned neatly beneath the 12 o’clock marker, bestowing the dial with a sense of depth. A date window displays is presented between the 4 and 5 o’clock hour markers. The Bracelet: The bracelet is made from stainless steel and comes fashioned in a classic three-link oyster style. The simplistic design of the oyster bracelet was first introduced by Rolex in 1948 and it since been closely associated with sports watches, due to their utilitarian character that ensures that the bracelet remains secured to the wrist during sporting activities. The three fold clasp, with secure lock, also helps to ensure that the watch remains securely fastened to the wearer’s wrist. The Function: This timepiece is powered by Seiko’s GPS solar movement that communicates with the GPS network and adjusts to your timezone anywhere around the world. The calibre 5X movement takes just three seconds to adjust between 39 timezones in the world, which makes it the fastest out of any movement on the market.
