Renowned for their special, uniquely surreal style, their designs take in skateboards, clothing and accessories.    As always, the Seiko 5 Sports possesses the five key elements of automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet. The Case: All watch cases in the range come made from stainless steel, whilst Hardlex crystal protects the dial. Purists will love the see-through screw-down case back that allows you to catch a glimpse into the interior function of this crafted timepiece. With a diameter of 42.5mm and a thickness of 13.4mm, the case of the Skateboard is suitably sturdy and strong.   Aesthetically, this is a stunner of a case from Seiko. Boasting a unidirectional bezel, the iconic recessed crown at four o’clock brings an irreverent element to the silver-coloured case of this proud watch. This is all topped-off with the see-through case back bearing the brand’s helmet logo as well as a serial number. The Dial: The off-white dial of the Skateboard is a display of elegant restraint. With the Evisen logo at twelve and the Seiko logo below, there is a day date function at three that brings depth and complexity. Indeed, the dial is designed to resemble the urethane material of a skateboard wheel, whilst the centrepiece of the model has to be the dial center, made in the image of a skateboard’s bearing.   With elegant hands in traditional Japanese style and hexagonal indices designed to resemble axle nuts that connect the wheels to the trucks of a skateboard, this really is an expertly designed watch dial.  The Bracelet: The rugged elegance of the Skateboard is once more displayed in this watch’s stunning bracelet. Crafted from calfskin in a wood grain effect, the bracelet is designed to represent the wooden deck of a Skateboard, another ingenious touch of artistic flair.   Subtly powerful, the bracelet of this Seiko timepiece represents everything that is special about Japanese tradition and particularly this unique collaboration. The Function: Naturally, such a fine timepiece boasts a truly stunning range of functions in addition to its aesthetic prowess.   The Skateboard boasts a 4R36 automatic caliber, functioning at 21,600 vibrations per hour, whilst there is a power reserve of 41 hours and 24 jewels in the movement.
