Seiko 5 Sports Automatic Rose Gold Men’s Watch SRPE72K1 The Case: The 43mm case on the Seiko 5 Sports SRPE72K1 model is made from stainless steel with a PVD rose gold coating, which offers the wearer unparalleled levels of anti-corrosiveness, as well as ensuring greater shine longevity. Hardlex glass has also been used in order to provide further protection. There is also a non-screw down crown present besides the 4 o’clock marker, the crown guard has a brushed finish, which creates a subtle, yet satisfying, contrast between it and the rest of the polished case. On top of the case is a unidirectional rotating bezel which can be used to time a run in the park, bringing out the sports side of this watch. The indexes on the bezel have a street style font on top of a rough surface, almost like sprayed graffiti on a wall. The case back is transparent, which allows the wearer to view the inner mechanisms of the timepiece. The Bracelet: The rose gold bracelet of the watch is made from highly durable stainless steel, that has been finished using a brushing technique. This creates a subtle, but welcomed, contrast between the polishing of the case and the brushing of the bracelet. It comes in the style of an oyster bracelet, which is associated with the Rolex brand. It fastens using a three fold clasp. The Dial: The rose gold dial really catches the eye thanks to its sun-brushed design, which glistens when it catches the sun. It is beautifully complemented by white indexes and hands which are coated in a luminous material, allowing for easy visibility at night. They both have a classy rose gold outline which allows them to pop out and be noticed. Positioned just below the 12 o’clock index is the ever present Seiko logo alongside a day and date window at 3 o’clock. Moreover, around the edge of the dial are small second markers placed on the chapter ring. The Functions: The Seiko 5 Sports range boast Seiko’s new upgraded 4R36 automatic. It is the same movement that is found in more expensive Seiko models, such as the ‘Turtle’ that belongs to the Prospex range. The movement consists of 24 jewels and it operates at 21,600 beats per hour, this ensures the watch has 40 hours of power reserve. It includes Seiko Diashock, which essentially protects the inner mechanisms from any damage the watch may sustain if it were to be dropped or knocked. It is expected to either gain or loose between +45 / -35 seconds per day. The watch also comes with a hacking function. When the crown is pulled out to adjust the time the second hand will stop. This allows you to set the second hand for precision timing. Once the crown is pushed back in the hands will tick from that second.
