The term ‘Clous de Paris’ directly translates to ‘nails of Paris’, due to it looking similar to hobnails. It is a decorative technique which is frequently applied to enhance the appearance of metal parts especially in rotors and dials. It is a technique that has been used since the 18th century and it is a reflection of the companies Frankish roots. Thinner, elegant and more refined bronze indices are one of the many subtle new features the  watch  brandishes. Notably, the hands are bronze and rhodium plated which looks great when the light glimmers of it. The bijou handset creates more space for a larger logo and ‘Automatic’ text that sits above the 6 o’clock index. The Aikon Quartz echoed the design code of the iconic Calypso, which became a definitive piece in Maurice LaCroix’s rise through the ranks of affordable luxury watches in the 1990s.
