Chris Saunders says that Irish Sea King Scallops are big and juicy because there are far fewer boats out in the Irish Sea from Morecombe Bay to The Isle of Man so they are free to grow bigger and better. 1kg of scallops will give you approx. 20 - 35 scallops, and 3 scallops per person is a recommended portion. So 1kg serves 6-10 people, 500kg serves 3-5 people. Scallops freeze well and are a quick easy meal so it’s never a problem to find you have too many! Both parts are delicious - simply pan fry with a little oil or butter for 4-5 minutes turning them over half way through.
